Robert had a great idea and then put it into action with this group. He had another great idea about having a list available of everyone's outside blogs so we can visit them via a 'one stop shop'. Any ideas on how to implement that, anyone?
Barb, thanks for joining and your input. I do think it is a good idea, more so then when it hit me this morning. For example, I found out about your blog and Joan's site after making my post. As I stated in my comment on my page, the simplest thing I would think if is Pat can just add a page that can list the sites and it be a "tab" in the menu at the top of every page. BUT, I don't know what an admin can or can't do with Ning.
Keep in mind making comments on other people's blogs can give you exposure to folks that might have never known of you before. There has to be a way, other then go to every member's page in this network and see what sites they have listed on the right hand side! :o
I agree. I had thought that it might be able to be contained in another group, but that would be a little cumbersome I think. I am still thinking about it though, and hopefully others will too. I'm sure Pat will let us know about the tab option.
Do you have a personal preference for have a onestop place to view the blogs? By that, I'm asking if it's something you'd like to see as a link on each persons main page or perhaps one tab somewhere as Robert suggested where the sites/blogs are listed for each person. I created a ning site for something unrelated. Id be more than happy to play around with it to experiment with what can or can't be done.
Morning D. I think Robert was hoping that one central place either as a tab or perhaps a widget could be created. And I had thought, if it can't, then the next best thing would be a group here at Portable Empire. I wasn't too sure about how to go about that unless everyone put in their info as a single thread. Human nature being what it is, I don't think all or many of us will go poking through everyone's individual main pages looking for links - they are all quite individual and the links could be all over the place.
If you can come up with something that would be great.
Just got back in after a day at the very hot baseball fields with my youngest son (Tournamanet weekend). I'm going ot play around in my other site and see if I can come up with something easy for all. I'll post back here one way or another...
Hot baseball fields....hmmmm.....and we're having -40 degrees and blizzard conditions with main highways shut down.....What part of life am I not quite getting??? LOL
LOL, if it helps any, I paid my dues by spending the first 18 years of my life in MIchigan Digging a path in the snow outside of my home and then trying to find the car. We are having unusually warm weather in San Diego today, feels like the Santa Ana winds are blowing in.
I've been playing around on my other site and wasn't able to find a good work around. I posted a question on the creator forum about having the flexibilty to control what is displayed under the member pictures. It would be nice if on the members (or friends) page you had the ability to control what shows up--like user name, city , state, blog/website etc. almost like a mini picture profile.. I'll let you know if I hear anything..
