Make Money Anywhere While Doing What You Love

Sorry I haven't been around lately. I've been working a lot, and just put my first ebook on my site. YIPPEE!

Here's my issue. The only way I could figure out to collect email addresses (using Aweber) before they went to Paypal to pay was to have them fill in the Aweber form, which takes them to another page with the Buy Now button, which takes them to Paypal. Seems inefficient, and more likely to lose people in the process.

Any suggestions to make it more direct and still build my list?

You can see what I have at www.discoveryourlifeonline.com/books.html

Thanks! Hope everyone is doing well!

Emily -- that is exactly my question! I plan to use Paypal when I launch my first real "for sale" book in early February. I think that issue is exactly why people use Clickbank. I will be watching for responses to this one for sure! And Congratulations on getting your book out there! Yeah!!! Come out to Second Life and celebrate with us! We know how to celebrate all these "firsts!"

Even my own MOTHER told me that she didn't like the set-up, because if she didn't know me she would feel like I was trying to pull something. She is used to having a Buy Now button right there, and she doesn't like having to put her email in.

She is exceptionally careful about internet stuff, but I know others are, too.

OK (to all of you that are interested), I figured it out!

Aweber will work with Paypal with an email parser. See this link http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/234/

So what I did was:
--Put a sample of the intro and the first chapter that they access by entering their email on the sales page.
--Put an email parser in Paypal for the people that actually buy
--Set up the parser to go to another, post-purchase list in Aweber
--Set up THAT list to unsubscribe people from the first (sample) list, so once they pay I know how paid, and who just got the sample. Then I can follow up with those that didn't buy and those that DID buy separately.

Make sense? I'm so proud of myself, I have to say...

Let me know if you need further details. We'll see how it all works out!

I have no idea what a parser is??? but sooooooo impressed that you figured it all out. I am printing your instructions and will learn how! Congratulations!

Let me know if you have questions when you get to it. Once I thought through the process of what needed to be cancelled when, the rest was pretty quick and easy. Hope it helps!

Hi Emily,

Everyone who buys from my sites gets a personal email from me... here's the kicker...

I tell them to go visit something like: http://www.no-bull-persuasion.com
and register for the newsletter, because they will get a few bonuses TODAY, and news and specials later.

So....

I might lose a few, who don't go and register... but I do make that personal contact with everyone....

It adds just a few minutes to my day.... and it builds relationships.....

I love relationships!

Have fun!

that's actually an OK way to do that...

what I think you should look at is the next page- which is actually your sales page. after I opted in, I was successfully zoomed to the sales page-

and a little confused.

you might want to think about what a person sees when they get there, and make sure there are directions for what you want them to do next.

I don't know when you looked at it, but I changed it yesterday. I put two different options on the sales page, one that will let them get a sample of the book if they put in their email, and then a Buy Now button (that does the parser) thing above. I was trying to clarify the whole thing, but maybe I just made it worse!

Are you saying that the part that was confusing was that they went to that second page at all? Should I take out the option of being able to get a sample of the book?

So many things! YEESH!

Thanks for your input, Pat--I have no idea what I'm doing...
