What are people doing to build their portable empire? I'm curious to hear of ways that people plan to make a living through their computer or the web or whatever. Besides, we need to wake up this forum and get some dialog going.
I have been studying web marketing for a while now. I have run a couple Google Adwords campaigns with no success yet. My website - http://www.pool-and-pocket-billiards-resource.com/ has been running for about a year and a half now. I started Google Adsense ads on my site about six months or so ago. I am just coming up to the $100 dollar limit to get paid a check. I need to get way more traffic on my site so I can make a respectable income from Google ads. I have recently begun a renewed effort to add some more content to my site and bring my traffic rankings up much higher. Karen Kay has given me some excellent suggestions. Any one else care to chip in?
I downloaded your report on abundant, fun-filled retirement from you website and I must say that I really enjoyed it. It is a well written and thought provoking piece of work. I really liked the method for finding your true purpose in life - write things down until you find the one that makes you cry. Well, I didn't cry but a couple things kind of made me eyes burn so they watered a little. I guess that qualifies.
I haven't checked out your other sites yet but I plan to soon. Just wanted to say thanks for the report.
As another answer to Janelle's excellent reply of Nov. 17, I wanted to inform her that I have added a beginner's video clip section to my website. You can see it at - http://www.pool-and-pocket-billiards-resource.com/pool_videos.html. Go there and learn how Janelle!
I am also implementing some of the other suggestions she made - my first ebook is almost done. This one will be a freebie to get a list going. I will be starting on the Pool for Beginners site next week. I started a site blog - http://www.pool-and-pocket-billiards-resource.com/Pool-blog.html. I got an advertiser that actually pays me money to advertise on my site. 8^) All kinds of things happening. I'll get the hang of this web stuff yet!
Thanks Janelle. It's good that we can encourage each other. As far as figuring out your niche goes, check out the following - http://action-guide.sitesell.com/ernier4154.html. This is the actual guide that people who use Sitesell use to build their websites. It's a great guide even if you don't use their service. If you read Day 2 it helps you decide what your niche could be and if it would be worth pursuing. There are also many articles on the subject and a great forum that is available for Sitesell owners. There is a way for outsiders to view the forums but I forgot how to arrange it. If you would like to see them, I will look it up for you.
Let me know your blog address. I will "Stumble" and you will get a big jump in traffic, at least temporarily.
Enjoy the wonders of Norway- Amazing Fjord tours & Cruises!
Ok, I must have taken a wrong turn somewhere. When I click on the link above it takes me to Norway, but if I copy and paste it, I go to your site...wow am I good or what?
I so enjoyed my trip to Norway too.... thanks for the laugh...omg!
After I messed up the copy and paste for your email, I am trying to be soooo careful w/copy and paste... but oh my! the gut hurts from the laugh... thanks!
I agree Janelle. Ernie has really stepped up to the plate and put himself out there. Awesome website and links and blogs, Ernie...you are inspiring!
I am an outside the box of 'how-to-make-money/LOA" nicher as well...in the health and wellness arena. Yes, I agree, it is refreshing when folks take on something else besides the same old, same old internet marketing scenario.
I'm working on my freebies, blog and getting a finished product out there quick...

Siouxz - where is wordpress hosted? Do you need to have a domain for it or is it hosted on Wordpress servers? Is it free? I would like to have a blog for all my other interests. Thanks.
Check it out. It comes highly recommended by the internet marketing gurus at Portable Empire Univeristy as far as high search engine action/visibility goes. That's why I switched from Blogger and I'm glad I made the move.
Hi Ernie, Thanks for sparking some life in us again, I set up a wordpress account earlier this month. I had one through blogger but wasn't getting very many hits. I was on a call with a woman from my "having it all challenge" group and she mentioned that she highly recommended wordpress over blogger, that the search engines seemed to like it a lot more. My traffic has increased quite a bit just in the few days after the switch. Here is a link to mine, I'm new too and learning but it was a start:
I'm working on the book recommendations. I also made a couple of posts on something I Was truly interested in on Pat's main website and I did get some traffic from that post. People clicked on my name and it took them back to my wordpress blog.
This blog is specifically geared towards my experience on the HIAC experience and it is one of the tools I Will be using when I've finished my e-book on this topic. I have another one that I am working on. The only thing holding me back on that one is not enough hours in the day!
In wordpress I started adding tags and now people find me if they are searching on John Assaraf, growth, etc. I am also adding Pat as a tag because he's been instrumental in getting me off my keister and I give him props any time I can.
ok, I got my first blog up...maybe 7 minutes and only because I had to go back and look again at the category thing...still not sure about it, but I installed on a site where I don't have anything else yet. So maybe the category or name thing when you already have something on the site will matter... not sure at this point but here it is?!?!?!

Now where was that expert on how to do links, blogroll links, uploads, videos...hmmm, I know it's here somewhere....
